Vending Location Scouting Checklist
Use this quick checklist before you pitch a host or place a snack, drink, combo, bulk, or ice machine. It is a screening aid, not a guarantee that a location will be profitable.
Traffic and buyer fit
- Repeat daily foot traffic from workers, residents, guests, students, or visitors.
- People spend enough time on site to want a snack, drink, or convenience item.
- The machine type matches the audience and the time of day they are present.
Placement and access
- Visible machine placement, not hidden in a back hallway.
- Reliable power, safe access, and enough room to service the machine.
- Clear permission for service visits, restocking, repairs, and moving equipment.
Competition and deal terms
- Nearby food, drink, or convenience options do not make the machine unnecessary.
- Commission terms still leave room for product cost, payment fees, fuel, and service time.
- The host understands who owns the machine, who stocks it, and how issues are handled.
If a location fails more than one category, slow down before buying equipment
or signing a host agreement.
